The #NewNormal: 4 Useful Tips to Make Work-from-Home Work For You

Last year, the words “self-quarantine,” “lockdown,” and “social distancing” were almost unknown to us. But now, these words are being uttered almost every day by everyone in the world. We continue to live in trying times.  This is due to the outbreak of a new coronavirus disease, COVID-19. This pandemic continuously affects the lives of people and communities all over the world.

The #NewNormal

At this time, every individual is forced to practice their own way of coping with the mentioned global issue. Hence, the introduction of the term “#NewNormal.” It feels like a long time when we’ve had our usual morning commute. I’m sure you miss grabbing coffee with co-workers during breaks, right? How about coping with heavy traffic when it’s time to go home.

Without a doubt, adjusting to the #NewNormal is not easy for all of us. Nicholas Bloom, a senior fellow at the Stanford Institute for Economic Policy Research (SIEPR) said it best. “We are home working alongside our kids, in unsuitable spaces, with no choice and no in-office days,” he added. “This will create a productivity disaster for firms.”

We terribly miss having our comfortable reclining office chairs and convenient desks in our workplaces. But it is important to have a conducive space at home as we work. Here are some tips to make this setup work for you:

SET A DEDICATED WORKSPACE, NO MATTER HOW SMALL OR BIG IT IS

It is not guaranteed that you will have the same peaceful environment that you had in your office. Noisy children, loud music, distracting visuals of television, your husband or wife begging for your attention, name it. It is important that you find a space in your home that you designate as your workstation. If you don’t have a separate room, find an area with minimum traffic flow. It can be a corner of a room off from the main area. Believe me, it’s a bad idea to work on your bed.

DISCOURAGE PERSONAL INTRUSIONS

Distractions are, of course, inevitable at home. These are often uncontrollable especially when you have to host a video conference, or take a work call. What you can do is to inform the rest of your family members to cooperate with you. Inform them about your time schedule, especially if you cannot be interrupted.

DISCIPLINE YOURSELF IN AVOIDING DISTRACTIONS

At home, your daily routine might include browsing your social media accounts and watching Netflix. But if you are aware that you have work duties to fulfill, well. It is your responsibility to keep your focus and avoid unnecessary activities that may hinder your work from being accomplished.

SET THE MOOD FOR WORK

Truth is, we thought it’s easier to work from home since we save time and gas. We also think it’s fun to work in your pajamas. Getting yourself to focus is hard! You might want to get a little help. Burn, not just the midnight oil, but our bestselling resin incense.

BEEYO’s Frankincense Resin is made from 100% pure, hand-picked, best quality frankincense resins from Somalia, Africa. Made from natural ingredients, this can help you alleviate anxiety and negative energy. Frankincense also has the ‘homey’ aroma that you’ll love.
