4 Effective Tips to Keep Your Home Clean And Virus-Free

Now that several countries are still under lockdown due to COVID-19, many families have been practicing social distancing, Many are opting for food deliveries and online shopping to limit going outside. What if the delivery man who just went through your doorstep is sick? Or the chef who cooked your meals is infected by the pandemic? What would happen if the the product I ordered online is contaminated?

The World Health Organization (WHO) says that COVID-19 is mainly spread through respiratory droplets expelled by someone who is infected by the virus. An infected person may exhibit symptoms such as coughing, fever, or tiredness. It is important to take precautionary measures at all times. Therefore, you need to observe cleanliness at home at all times.

Keeping one’s home clean is a primary necessity especially if one of the family members happens to be one of the frontline workers— doctors, nurses, and other essential staff. They need to sanitize not only their bodies, but their homes as well. This is because of their numerous contacts with other people. The rest of the members of a household must ensure that their house is still a safe place for a frontline worker to stay at. The following are the effective ways that can help your home be virus-free:

DOUBLE YOUR USUAL CLEANING AND DISINFECTING ROUTINE

Keep your kitchen and bath surfaces free from viruses and bacteria by first cleaning it with soap or detergent and water, then add a disinfectant product containing alcohol (of around 70 per cent) or bleach aside from vinegar and other natural products.

WASH YOUR BED SHEETS, TOWELS AND CLOTHES REGULARLY

If any of your family went out after a grocery run or an important errand, immediately wash their clothes. Wash your items with warm water and soap or detergent to help kill the virus. Before and after you do your laundry, make sure to wash your hands with soap and water, then apply alcohol-based hand rub or hand sanitizer.

HANDLE AND PREPARE YOUR FOOD PROPERLY

Since majority of countries are still under lockdown because of COVID-19, receiving food deliveries is now part of every household’s daily routine. Make sure to wipe cans, containers and packaging with a disinfectant before opening or storing them. Just make sure that the disinfectant will not touch the food to avoid poisoning. Afterwards, sanitize your hands through washing with soap and water, or applying alcohol or hand sanitizer.
